Welcome to the Grand Valley Scuba Divers Web site!
Grand Valley Scuba Divers is a SCUBA club established in 1967 in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area to promote safe SCUBA diving practices and to create a group of experienced dive buddies so that we could all be more active.
Using the advantage of numbers we have been able to arrange a yearly schedule of dives including Great Lakes shipwreck charter dives. We use our over 40 years of knowledge to book charters where we can choose where the boat goes because we are not just one or two divers on the boat, we book the whole boat not just a seat on the boat. Forty years of diving gives us the knowledge of who to call and where the good wrecks are.
We also have a full schedule of social activities to keep the whole family involved. These include a spring banquet to kick off the season, a June picnic and dive, a steak fry on Lake Michigan in September a Christmas party and every other year an out of the country warm and salty dive trip in February.
We are actively seeking new members to increase our ranks. We ask that all prospective members dive with us three times after applying and pay an initiation fee after being accepted. All members agree to dive by a set of agreed upon safe diving practices
To inquire about membership contact me by e-mail at ross@grandvalleyscubadivers.com . Download an applicaton and bring it to a meeting
Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 8 PM in Northeast Grand Rapids.
We are not in any way affiilated with Grand Valley State University, it is just that when we were formed lots of things in the area were being named "Grand Valley" something
We are also not affiliated with any one dive shop, we gratefully patronize all dive shops. It is our belief that we should all support the local shops. Without them our sport could not be practiced, we would have no way to get air to fill our tanks. If we buy equipment on the internet who will service it. If our shop goes under because we buy on the net or out of catalogs and our shop goes under then where do we go for air and where do you get your equipment serviced?
